Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Black Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lyle Fretwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Black Coleman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lyle Fretwell! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Richard Clark and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Coleman throws a combination that misses and Fretwell counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Fretwell. Fretwell doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
A left hand lands to the body for Fretwell.
Fretwell breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Fretwell closes the distance and clinches. Fretwell unloads a knee to the mid-section. Coleman lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Fretwell pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Fretwell, as that shot connected.
It looks like Black Coleman has been cut. Coleman tries to keep at a distance but Fretwell has taken the fight into the clinch. Fretwell pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Coleman throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Coleman shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Fretwell pinned against the cage. Fretwell gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Excellent takedown into side control there by Coleman.
That's one minute gone in the round. Coleman lands an elbow. Coleman works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Coleman misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Fretwell is trying to get back to half guard. Coleman landing strikes. Coleman taking a breather here. Coleman wants to control for a moment but Fretwell uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Coleman misses with a head shot. Fretwell uses the momentum to regain guard. Coleman wants to control from the top but Fretwell keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Coleman is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Coleman working some strikes from top position. Coleman has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Coleman content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Coleman throwing strikes but missing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Coleman throws a big elbow that misses. Fretwell looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Coleman passes into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Fretwell manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Coleman controls from within his opponent's guard. Coleman postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Coleman controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Coleman trying to control but Fretwell is working from the bottom. Fretwell controls Coleman momentarily but Coleman frees himself. Coleman scoring with some ground and pound. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Coleman missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Fretwell keeping moving, preventing Coleman from controlling successfully.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Lyle Fretwell will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Black Coleman's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Fretwell avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Fretwell, right into the meat.
Fretwell closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Coleman did well to prevent Fretwell getting side control. Coleman looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Coleman is pressing down on Fretwell's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Coleman controls Fretwell momentarily but Fretwell frees himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fretwell wants to control from the top but Coleman keeps moving. Coleman looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Coleman is pulling down on Fretwell's head. It's preventing any offense from Fretwell, at least for the moment.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Coleman moves in looking to clinch but Fretwell pushes him off.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Fretwell takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Coleman looks to land a combination but Fretwell avoids it well. Coleman shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Fretwell but Fretwell pushes him off and we're back to square one. Coleman misses with a takedown attempt - Fretwell sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Fretwell lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Coleman circles away quickly and effectively. Coleman showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Fretwell.
Coleman looks to score with a jab to the body but Fretwell is just out of range. Fretwell looks like he wants to counter punch here. Coleman misses with the combination.
A punch lands to the side of Coleman 's head but he takes it in his stride. Coleman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Fretwell tries to avoid it but Coleman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Fretwell to the ground. Fretwell escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Black Coleman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Coleman misses with a low kick.
Fretwell flicks out a counter leg kick but Coleman steps away. Fretwell lands a nice looking body shot.
Coleman misses with an uppercut
and Fretwell counters with a nice low kick that buckles Coleman's knee momentarily. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. A lazy body kick from Fretwell and Coleman counters with a nice uppercut. Black Coleman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Fretwell blocks a jab. A punch combination from Fretwell misses. Coleman throws a right hand that misses
and Fretwell counters with a right hand to the body. Fretwell connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Coleman's hands. Fretwell misses with a wild body shot. Coleman seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Black Coleman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Fretwell clinches. Fretwell stops a takedown attempt from Coleman.
Fretwell has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Coleman drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Fretwell escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fretwell will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Coleman closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Fretwell lands a damaging elbow. Fretwell is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Coleman drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Fretwell gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Coleman is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Fretwell pulls him back up using the underhooks. Coleman has Fretwell pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Fretwell manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Fretwell breaks from the clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Coleman. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lyle Fretwell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Black Coleman's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Fretwell closes the distance and clinches. Coleman tries to pull guard but Fretwell forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Coleman jumps guard but Fretwell stands there with Coleman around his waist. Coleman gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Coleman tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Black Coleman. That's going to take a lot out of him. Coleman is looking to take this one to the mat. Coleman's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Fretwell trying to land knees to the body.
Fretwell lands with a short head shot on the inside. Fretwell pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Lyle Fretwell seems to be getting the better of the standup. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Coleman drives through with a takedown into guard. Fretwell is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Fretwell looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's one minute gone in the round. Coleman trying to control the position from guard on top but Fretwell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Coleman is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Fretwell is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Fretwell looking to hit a scissor sweep but Coleman is one step ahead there. Coleman throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Fretwell looking for a guillotine here but Coleman defends easily.
Black Coleman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Lyle Fretwell is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Fretwell is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Fretwell manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Coleman manages to get himself to full guard.
Fretwell seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Fretwell trying to control but Coleman is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fretwell advances position into side control! A lull in the action here. Coleman tries to improve position but can't. Coleman sneaks back into half guard. Coleman trying to control but Fretwell postures up.
Coleman wants to get back to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Fretwell throwing shots but Coleman is blocking nicely. Fretwell is trying to control the action in half guard but Coleman is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Fretwell seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Fretwell dives in and scores a takedown into Coleman's guard. Fretwell slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Coleman throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Coleman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fretwell doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fretwell manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
And that's the end of the fight! Lyle Fretwell comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Fretwell has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
