Santerini has control of Thompson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Thompson regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Thompson cracks Santerini with a good jab.

Thompson throws a nice looking combination but Santerini bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

and Santerini counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Thompson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Santerini stands and steps away. Thompson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Thompson misses with a double jab.
Thompson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Santerini looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Thompson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Santerini postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Thompson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Santerini, into his guard.
Thompson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Santerini manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Thompson has Santerini in his guard.
Santerini wants to control from the top but Thompson keeps moving.

Santerini slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Santerini decides to stand back up.
Santerini misses with a takedown attempt - Thompson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Santerini gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Santerini is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Santerini is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Thompson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Santerini.
