Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tony Monson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Elijah Parker! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Edson Gomes and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Parker scores with a nice strike. Monson looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Parker misses with the combination.
Monson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Parker sprawls well. Parker wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Monson gets slowly back to his feet. Monson tries for a takedown but Parker circles away easily and Parker cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. A solid leg kick lands there for Parker.
Monson tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Parker defends well and Monson ends up having to push Parker into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Monson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Parker feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Monson's calf. Parker scoring well with a low kick there.
Parker stuffs the takedown. Tony Monson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Parker looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Parker goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
It looks like Tony Monson has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Monson wants to clinch up but Parker keeps it at a distance. A slapping leg kick lands for Parker.
Monson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Parker sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Monson somewhat. Despite the aggression on Parker's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Monson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Parker counters with a nice uppercut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Oooooh!!! Parker has knocked Monson down with a huge combo! Parker steps away and waves a wobbly Monson back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Monson is rocked! Parker fakes the body blow, causing Monson to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Monson goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!
