Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Diego Brandao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fernando Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz has chosen Boombastic (Mr Lover Lover) by Shaggy as his entrance music. The key to victory for Diego Brandao has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Diego Brandao! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Fernando Diaz! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Radbod Blank and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz slips under a jab from Brandao. Diaz tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Brandao was well out of range. Poor timing from Diaz. Diaz closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Brandao did well to prevent Diaz getting side control. Diaz tries to pass to full mount but Brandao defends it. Diaz content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Diaz looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Diaz stalling.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Diaz trying to mount his opponent but Brandao defends it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Brandao is trying to control but can't.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Diaz shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Brandao but Brandao pushes him off and we're back to square one. Diaz doesn't succeed with the takedown and Brandao counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Diaz takes a swing at Brandao's ribcage but misses. Brandao lands with a shot to the body. Diaz tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Brandao was well out of range. Poor timing from Diaz. Brandao throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Brandao tries to clinch and Diaz counters with a nice double leg into side control. Brandao won't be happy with that.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz trying to control the position but Brandao is working away. Diaz remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Brandao is not content to let Diaz control the position. Brandao tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Diaz wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Diaz tries to advance to mount but Brandao denies him. Diaz working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. The referee asks Diaz politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Diaz prefers to stall for the moment though. Brandao can't do much from the bottom here. Diaz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Brandao keeps working. Diaz tries for a kimura but Brandao is defending well. Diaz advances nicely into full mount. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Diaz wants to control the action but instead Brandao gets a body lock and reverses into Diaz's guard! Nice work! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Fernando Diaz will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Diaz dives in and grabs Brandao's left leg, looking for a takedown. Brandao pushes down on Diaz's head and hops out. Diaz doesn't succeed with the takedown and Brandao connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Brandao's corner calls for a 1-2. Brandao obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Nice takedown defense from Brandao. No joy for Diaz on that attempt. Diego Brandao has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fernando Diaz. Brandao is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Diaz misses with a hook to the body
and Brandao cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Diaz closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Brandao to the mat! Brandao manages to get full guard. Diaz trying to control but Brandao is working from the bottom. Diaz looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brandao keeping full guard, as Diaz tries to pass. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Diaz sitting in guard, not really doing much. Diaz looking to pass the guard. Fernando Diaz has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Diaz wants to control from the top but Brandao keeps moving.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Brandao takes a body punch but keeps moving. Brandao instigates a clinch. Brandao is working Diaz over against the cage. I was talking to Brandao's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Brandao misses with a hook to the ribs.
Diaz fails to pull guard.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Diaz jumps guard but Brandao turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz is trying to pull guard but Brandao turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Brandao has a couple of punches blocked by Diaz.
Brandao misses with a hook from the clinch. Brandao lands a body punch in the clinch. Diaz blocking some punches.
Brandao lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Diaz backwards. Brandao lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Diaz taking a breather. Brandao tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Diaz fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Brandao throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Diazs head. Brandao lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Diaz tries to pull guard but Brandao forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Brandao manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Diaz jumps guard but Brandao stands there with Diaz around his waist. Diaz gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Brandao doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Brandao swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Diaz tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Brandao smiles and moves away.
Diaz misses the shot to the body. An attempted straight right counter from Brandao misses the target. Brandao throws a combination. Diaz tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Brandao misses with a few strikes there.
Diaz tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Brandao fails in his attempt to clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Diego Brandao dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Diaz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Brandao pinned against the cage. Brandao gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Nice straight punches there by Brandao. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Brandao.
Diaz is rocked! Brandao forces Diaz back against the cage and clinches. Diaz is still on wobbly legs! Can Brandao finish him? Brandao is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Diaz can do to turn this around? Diaz tries to pull guard but Brandao forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Brandao lands a nice uppercut. Brandao pushes Diaz against the cage. Brandao is working some dirty boxing. Brandao pushes off with a quick right hook! Diaz goes down! Diaz tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Brandao moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Diego Brandao!
