Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mickey Rourke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Uriiz Monai!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Nard Betker and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rourke misses with an uppercut
and Monai counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.


It looks like Mickey Rourke has been cut.
Rourke throws a leg kick that is checked
and Monai connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Monai lands a nice shot to the body.
Rourke swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Monai.


It looks like Uriiz Monai has been cut.

Monai dodges the punch combination from Rourke.
Rourke will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Monai unleashes a big counter combination but Rourke bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Rourke shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Monai is trying to defend but Rourke finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Monai is looking to improve his position.
Rourke content to control rather than advance.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Monai prevents Rourke from improving position.
The ground and pound from Rourke seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Monai is looking for a sweep.
Rourke creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Monai sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Monai is looking to regain half guard here but Rourke keeps moving and retains side control.
Monai is letting Rourke control him for a moment.
Rourke lands a decent elbow from side control.
Rourke wants to lay and pray for a moment but Monai keeps working.

Rourke wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Monai, who protects the arm well.

Monai can't do much from the bottom here.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rourke tries to advance to mount but Monai denies him.
Rourke is staying tight to Monai's torso, preventing him from escaping.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Rourke is looking to score with low kicks.
Monai looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Monai keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Monai darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Rourke looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Rourke throws the left hand but Monai avoids the punch easily.
Monai has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Monai's corner calls for a 1-2. Monai obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Rourke lands a glancing blow to the side of Monai's head.
Rourke swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Monai cracks Rourke with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Monai misses with a hook. Rourke ducked under it nicely.
Rourke dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Monai misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rourke.
Monai lands a jab to the head.

Rourke looks to throw a body kick
and Monai makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

enabling Monai to counter with a crisp jab.


Rourke is rocked!
Rourke punishes Monai's body with a nice straight punch.
Mickey Rourke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Monai tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Rourke looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Monai paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Oh Rourke is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Rourke bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Rourke seems to have got his legs back now.

Rourke closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Mickey Rourke overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Monai wants to control but Rourke is keeping busy.
Monai wants to get back to full guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nice strikes from Rourke there.
Well, if Rourke is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Monai can do anything to dispel that myth.

Rourke landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Rourke is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Rourke keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Rourke thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Monai's head.
Rourke perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Monai tries to roll over but Rourke keeps him under control.
Monai wants to control but Rourke is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Rourke throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Monai to regain full guard.
Rourke engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Rourke stands and steps away. Monai gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Uriiz Monai is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nice uppercut lands for Monai. That snapped Rourke's head back.
Rourke misses with a body shot.
Rourke misses with a shot to the body
and Monai counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Oooooh!!! Monai has knocked Rourke down with a huge combo! Monai steps away and waves a wobbly Rourke back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Rourke get stunned by a cross and takes another one on the button. Rourke stumbles backwards and tries to bounce back off the cage but Monai runs in and jumps on him with a leaping lead hook that puts him out! Wow, that was highlight reel stuff! Awesome finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:11 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Uriiz Monai!
After the fight, Uriiz Monai was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
In defeat, Mickey Rourke stepped up to the mic, saying 'Im so happy for you, great fight. Im sorry if I hurt you during the fight.'.
