The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gallows leaves Lai with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Gallows shoots for a takedown but Lai saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
As Gallows backs off Lai throws a huge counter combo but Gallows manages to avoid it all.
No luck for Gallows with that takedown attempt.

Lai clinches up against the cage.
Lai taking a breather.
Lai looking for a takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gallows wants a takedown but no success here.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Gallows. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lai stalls.
Lai can't get the takedown.
Gallows is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Lai is keeping busy.

Lai is pressed up against the cage. Gallows has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Lai down to the mat. Lai avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Gallows closes the distance but Lai moves to the side
and Lai counters with a straight right hand.

and Gallows counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Gallows.

Lai breaks the clinch.

Whack! Lai lands a heavy head kick that drops Gallows. The ref tackles Lai to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Gallows was done.
