Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Atlas Metaxas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and The Sandman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The Sandman is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Atlas Metaxas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, The Sandman! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Bruno Lombardi and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Metaxas uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Sandman. Sandman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Metaxas tries to avoid it but Sandman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Metaxas to the ground. Metaxas escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Metaxas stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Metaxas wants it to stay on the feet. Sandman shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Sandman was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Metaxas is positioning himself to get back to half guard. A lull in the action here as Sandman stalls from top position. Metaxas is looking to reverse the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Metaxas takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

That's one minute gone in the round. Metaxas struggling a bit here. Sandman is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Metaxas knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Sandman wants to control for a moment but Metaxas uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. Sandman seems to be looking for submissions.
Sandman is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard. Sandman pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Metaxas is keeping the position for now. Metaxas is trying to control the position but Sandman postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Sandman with a flurry of punches that miss. Sandman postures up and lands a big shot to Metaxas's brow. Sandman wants to control from the top but Metaxas keeps moving. Metaxas has Sandman pulled in close to control his posture. Sandman wants to control from the top but Metaxas keeps moving. Sandman in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Sandman throws a big right hand that misses. Sandman controls from within his opponent's guard. Sandman passes easily into side control. Nice work. Sandman misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Sandman has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sandman throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Metaxas works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Sandman looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Metaxas with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Sandman is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Metaxas is pressing down on Sandman's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Sandman trying to control the position from guard on top but Metaxas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sandman is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Sandman missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Metaxas utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Metaxas pulls Sandman in close to his closed guard and prevents Sandman from doing any damage or advancing position.

Metaxas bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sandman's guard. Sandman looking for a sweep. Not yet Sandman, not yet. Sandman working for submissions but it's allowed Metaxas to get to half guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Metaxas looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sandman drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Metaxas manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Sandman has Metaxas in his guard. Sandman keeping moving, preventing Metaxas from controlling successfully. Sandman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Metaxas doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Metaxas manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Metaxas tries to free his leg and advance position but Sandman is retaining full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sandman looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Metaxas passes into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round. Metaxas wants to control but Sandman is keeping him busy. Sandman tries to improve position but can't. Sandman is not content to let Metaxas control the position. Sandman tries to buck Metaxas off but Metaxas is having none of it. Sandman wants to control but Metaxas postures up. Sandman is trying to get back to half guard. Metaxas tries to advance to mount but Sandman denies him.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Metaxas won't allow Sandman to sweep him here. Sandman looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Metaxas has picked Sandman up and slammed him! Sandman can't keep hold of the triangle and Metaxas manages to pass to side control! Sandman struggling a bit here. Sandman is looking to reverse the position. Sandman looks to move to half guard but instead Metaxas has passed into mount! Damn! Metaxas trying to control but he's not successful this time. Sandman is desperately trying to improve his position but Metaxas has a good base and remains in mount. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Sandman sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Sandman is looking for a sweep. Metaxas is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Atlas Metaxas will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Sandman misses with a straight right. Sandman is trying hard to land a takedown here. Metaxas sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Metaxas ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sandman moves away. Metaxas throws a looping overhand right but Sandman ducks down to avoid it. Sandman fails with the takedown enabling Metaxas to counter with a crisp jab. Sandman closes the distance and clinches up with Metaxas, looking for a takedown. Sandman pushes Metaxas against the cage but Metaxas circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Atlas Metaxas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of The Sandman. Sandman is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Metaxas's half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Metaxas manages to regain full guard. Nice work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Metaxas slips out almost immediately though and dives into Sandman's guard. Sandman tries to land a sweep but no joy. Metaxas slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Metaxas trying to control the position from guard on top but Sandman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Sandman is pulling down on Metaxas's head. It's preventing any offense from Metaxas, at least for the moment. Sandman has his foot on Metaxas's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Metaxas works his way back into a safe position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sandman is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Metaxas defends well. Sandman is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Metaxas is aware though and is defending well. Sandman looking for a triangle here. Metaxas is fighting it but it looks tight! Sandman pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Metaxas is tapping out - this one is all over!
