Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lucien Briggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rumo Wopertinger!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Arvi Lind and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wopertinger drives through with a takedown into Briggs's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Wopertinger engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Wopertinger trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Wopertinger prevents Briggs from getting back to his feet.
Wopertinger stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Briggs swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wopertinger stands up from Briggs's guard - Wopertinger perhaps looking for a knockout.

Briggs kicks off Wopertinger and gets to his feet.

Briggs is trying to buck Wopertinger off.
You can see the frustration on Briggs's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Wopertinger wants to lay and pray for a moment but Briggs keeps working.

Briggs manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Wopertinger tries to roll over but Briggs keeps him under control.
Briggs thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Wopertinger's head.
Briggs could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Briggs is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Wopertinger has managed to free his arm - good work.

Briggs decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Briggs fails to land the takedown.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Briggs fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Wopertinger avoids it really well and circles away.
Wopertinger misses with the combination.
Briggs tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Wopertinger defends well and Briggs ends up having to push Wopertinger into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lucien Briggs. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Briggs tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Wopertinger swivels and escapes.
Wopertinger is looking to slow Briggs down with leg kicks.

Wopertinger closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Briggs quickly recovers to half guard.

Briggs kicks off Wopertinger and gets to his feet.

Nice sprawl there from Wopertinger as Briggs shoots in.

Wopertinger rushes Briggs and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Wopertinger wants to get back to striking at distance but Briggs won't allow it.

Briggs escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Wopertinger moves into the clinch.
Briggs is struggling to control the position.

Wopertinger pulls Briggs into guard.

Wopertinger has an active guard here but Briggs has managed to pass into half guard.
Wopertinger looks winded!
Briggs working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Lucien Briggs will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Briggs tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Wopertinger defends well and Briggs ends up having to push Wopertinger into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Briggs closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Wopertinger did well to prevent Briggs getting side control.

Briggs seems to be working for a kimura but Wopertinger defends the submission attempt.
Wopertinger wants to get back to full guard.
Wopertinger is trying to maintain the position but Briggs is very close to passing his half guard.

Briggs decides to stand up.

Briggs avoids a punch combination nicely.

Briggs closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Wopertinger quickly recovers to half guard.

Briggs is working for a submission of some sort.
Wopertinger really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Briggs. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Briggs stands up from half guard.

Wopertinger gets a clinch.
Briggs manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Wopertinger lands a takedown into guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Briggs looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Briggs is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Briggs tries to strike from the bottom.
Wopertinger wants to pass the guard but Briggs is keeping the position.
Wopertinger looking to sit in guard and control but Briggs gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Briggs gets to his feet. Wopertinger looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Wopertinger shoots in and gets a takedown into Briggs's guard.

Briggs wriggles free and stands up.
Wopertinger is breathing heavily.
Briggs shoots in looking for a takedown. Wopertinger tries to sprawl out of it but Briggs keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wopertinger manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Wopertinger is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Wopertinger moves into range and clinches up with Briggs.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Briggs displaying some good clinch control by pressing Wopertinger up against the cage.
Wopertinger can't break the clinch.

Briggs breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Some wild striking there from Wopertinger.
Briggs changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wopertinger tries to avoid it but Briggs manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wopertinger to the ground. Wopertinger escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lucien Briggs. That's going to take a lot out of him.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wopertinger trying to stall but Briggs improves his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Lucien Briggs will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Wopertinger looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Briggs!

Briggs bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Wopertinger lands with a kick to the ribs.
Briggs misses with a takedown attempt - Wopertinger sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Briggs takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Wopertinger closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Briggs to the mat! Briggs manages to get full guard.

Briggs pushes Wopertinger off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Briggs shoots in for a takedown but Wopertinger shows good takedown defense.
Wopertinger changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Briggs shoots in and drives through. Wopertinger sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lucien Briggs. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Horrible takedown attempt by Briggs or perhaps it was just good defense by Wopertinger, which made it look bad.

Wopertinger shoots in and gets a takedown into Briggs's guard.

Briggs has his feet on Wopertinger's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Rumo Wopertinger seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Wopertinger shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Briggs eats them both and turns towards Wopertinger to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Briggs fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Wopertinger pushes Briggs up against the cage in a clinch.
Wopertinger wants to stall.
Briggs effectively controlling the action here.
Wopertinger looking to throw knees to the head but Briggs is blocking nicely.
Wopertinger is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Briggs breaks the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Wopertinger shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Briggs's guard.
Lucien Briggs overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Briggs preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Wopertinger is fighting to break Briggs's control of his arms but Briggs is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Wopertinger decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Lucien Briggs is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Briggs tries to keep at a distance but Wopertinger has taken the fight into the clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Briggs breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Wopertinger bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Briggs explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Briggs closes this distance looking for a takedown but Wopertinger circles away.

Wopertinger shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Wopertinger showed some decent athleticism there.

Briggs makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Lucien Briggs showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Briggs, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
