Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Elmo Callahan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Daniels! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Ron Honeybunn and Chris Dean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Callahan shoots in for a takedown but Daniels shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Daniels darts in looking for a takedown but Callahan gets double underhooks and turns Daniels into the cage. Callahan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Nice sprawl there from Daniels as Callahan shoots in. Callahan defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Daniels. No luck for Callahan with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Elmo Callahan. That's going to take a lot out of him. Daniels defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Callahan. Daniels gets in close and instigates a clinch. Daniels jumps into guard, dragging Callahan to the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Daniels trying to strike off his back.
Daniels has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Callahan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Daniels is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Callahan presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Callahan tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Daniels decides to pull guard. Callahan working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Daniels's head. Callahan has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Daniels is pulling down on Callahan's head. It's preventing any offense from Callahan, at least for the moment. Daniels trying to keep a closed guard but Callahan is proving a slippery customer.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Callahan is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Daniels looking for a sweep. Not yet Daniels, not yet. Daniels pulls Callahan in close to prevent any damage. Daniels working a defensive guard here.
Callahan with a flurry of punches that miss. Daniels is looking to stand up but Callahan isn't so interested in that idea.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Daniels tries for a takedown but Callahan sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Callahan fails with the takedown. Daniels closes the distance and clinches up with Callahan, looking for a takedown. Daniels pushes Callahan against the cage but Callahan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Callahan is defended easily by Daniels. Daniels throws a nice head kick!
It looks like Elmo Callahan has been cut. Callahan shoots in for a takedown but Daniels shows good takedown defense.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Daniels lunges at Callahan with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Callahan's hand. Daniels shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Callahan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Daniels's waist but Daniels gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Callahan off to one side. Callahan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Daniels circles away. Callahan with a poor takedown and Daniels comes in over the top with a devastating right hand! Callahan stumbles back against the cage, looking to regain his senses but Daniels is on him like rabid pit bull! Callahan slumps to the ground under a storm of punches and this fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jack Daniels!
