The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Icon shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Vermeer pinned against the cage. Vermeer gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A slow jab from Icon misses its intended target.
Icon takes a swing at Vermeer's ribcage but misses.
Icon misses with a telegraphed body shot
enabling Vermeer to counter with a crisp jab.
Vermeer punishes Icon's body with a nice straight punch.
Vermeer throws a right and a left that both miss.
Icon goes for a double leg but Vermeer avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Vermeer continues to drive forward.
Icon walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Icon throws a predictable looking body shot
and Vermeer counters with a series of strikes. Icon will be more careful next time no doubt.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Vermeer creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Vermeer lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Icon backwards.
Icon's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Icon tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Vermeer's elbow.

Vermeer drops Icon onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Icon is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!
Icon is still on wobbly legs! Can Vermeer finish him?
Vermeer creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Icon with a big uppercut! Icon tries to clinch up but Vermeer pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Icon to the mat! Icon covers up and Vermeer unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
