PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Teddy Green (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Emielio RioGrande (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Teddy Green!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Emielio RioGrande!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Daniel Cesar and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
RioGrande shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Green looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Green is looking to clinch but RioGrande is avoiding it.
And RioGrande tries to counter it with a takedown but Green pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Green clinches up with RioGrande and pushes him back against the cage.
RioGrande is trying to break the clinch but Green has him pressed against the cage.
RioGrande stops a takedown attempt from Green.

RioGrande manages to break the clinch.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Teddy Green. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

RioGrande lands a takedown into guard.
Green manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. RioGrande manages to get himself to full guard.

Green has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Green's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
RioGrande keeping moving, preventing Green from controlling successfully.
RioGrande not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Green seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
RioGrande throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

RioGrande is trying to control the position but Green postures up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

RioGrande feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
RioGrande lands a couple of elbows.
Green is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Green wants to take a breather but RioGrande is having none of it.
RioGrande is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
RioGrande wants to control but Green is keeping busy and won't allow it.

RioGrande is looking to control Green's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can RioGrande avoid being mounted?
RioGrande is trying to escape back to his feet but Green uses the scramble to pass into side control.
RioGrande wants to control but Green postures up.

RioGrande tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The referee asks Green politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Green prefers to stall for the moment though.
Green lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear RioGrande down.
RioGrande seems a little lost for a moment, as Green dominates the positioning.

Green stands up and beckons RioGrande to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Green tries to clinch but RioGrande is having none of it.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Green has closed the distance and engaged RioGrande in a clinch.

RioGrande has Green pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. RioGrande pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Green tumbling to the mat - RioGrande dives into Green's guard.

Green is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Green isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. RioGrande stacks Green on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by RioGrande!
Green knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for RioGrande on the ground.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

RioGrande tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no RioGrande has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Green is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but RioGrande is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

RioGrande tries to control but Green wriggling away.
RioGrande is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Green can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
RioGrande tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Green throwing hammer fists to the chest of RioGrande. What's that going to do exactly?
Green wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Green is really stuck here.

Green is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Green covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.

Green is trapped and RioGrande is scoring with shots to the head and body.
RioGrande is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. RioGrande gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. RioGrande gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. RioGrande apologises and we restart here on the feet.

RioGrande decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Green has a hand on RioGrande's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. RioGrande takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Green tries to reverse the position but RioGrande maintains control.

Green might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
RioGrande is breathing heavily.
RioGrande can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Green is looking to escape.
RioGrande is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

RioGrande wants to control the pace but Green is squirming around nicely.

RioGrande controlling the position easily from mount.
Green is looking to improve his position but RioGrande isn't that keen on the idea.

Green sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
RioGrande blocks the strikes from Green.
Green is looking for a sweep. RioGrande is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Emielio RioGrande showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

RioGrande got a little sloppy there for a moment and Green has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, RioGrande has managed to get both his arms back between Green's legs - danger averted.

RioGrande looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
RioGrande drops an elbow to the side of Green's head.
Green flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Green regains full guard. Nicely done.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Green keeping moving, preventing RioGrande from controlling successfully.
RioGrande has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Green moves into range and clinches up with RioGrande.
RioGrande misses with a hook to the ribs.

RioGrande turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

RioGrande scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Green to see if he's OK.

Green is not content to let RioGrande control the position.
Green misses with some strikes from the bottom.
RioGrande is taking a breather. Green says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Green is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of RioGrande's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take RioGrande's back!
Green lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

And that's the end of the fight!
Emielio RioGrande comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think RioGrande has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
