Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jordan Mcbride! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pablo Ruiz! The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Illya Tyunina and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruiz manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Mcbride on his heels. He'll look to pass Mcbride's guard now, I'm sure. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Mcbride pulls Ruiz in close to prevent any damage. Ruiz wants to control from the top but Mcbride keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ruiz with a flurry of punches that miss. Ruiz engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Ruiz advances position into side control! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ruiz in side control, throwing shots but Mcbride defends.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mcbride is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Ruiz has just dragged him back down to the mat. Ruiz is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Mcbride's shoulder. That is not cool. Ruiz trying to control the action but Mcbride is working from the bottom. Ruiz working away. Ruiz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mcbride keeps working. Ruiz misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Ruiz stands up and beckons Mcbride to his feet. Ruiz throws a jab but it's blocked by Mcbride. Mcbride blocks a head kick by Ruiz.
Ruiz fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mcbride, pushing him back against the cage. Ruiz prevents Mcbride from breaking the clinch. Ruiz lands with a short shot to the head.
It looks like Jordan Mcbride has been cut. Ruiz looking to slow down the pace here. Mcbride wants a takedown but no success here.
Ruiz is looking for a takedown. Ruiz pushes Mcbride back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Ruiz with a knee to the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruiz pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Ruiz tries for a takedown but Mcbride sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Mcbride wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Mcbride defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ruiz. Jordan Mcbride has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pablo Ruiz. Ruiz avoids the head kick by Mcbride.
Ruiz fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mcbride to the ground. Ruiz is now in Mcbride's guard. Oh Mcbride is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Ruiz looks winded! Mcbride is trying to control the position but Ruiz postures up. Mcbride utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Ruiz sitting in guard, not really doing much. Ruiz must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Ruiz lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Ruiz working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Mcbride's head. Ruiz looking to pass the guard. Ruiz sitting in guard here, content to control. Mcbride preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Ruiz is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Mcbride will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Ruiz postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ruiz in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Ruiz is in close to Mcbride's body, working some short punches and elbows. Mcbride really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Ruiz stands up from Mcbride's guard - Ruiz perhaps looking for a knockout. Ruiz plants his feet and throws a brutal three punch combo that sends Mcbride swiftly into unconsciousness! Right, left, right! Boom, boom, boom! Mcbride face plants, battered and bloodied! He might never be the same again after that finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Pablo Ruiz! As Pablo Ruiz got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: You know this was probably my toughest test to date, man he's tough,but you know I was coming in guns blazing and ready to put up a show for my fans and my team, and I got the W in the end. Let me be clear at this point: I'M COMING FOR THE TITLE!!! Spasiba everybody, I love you Mama!'.
