Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Butch Larson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Shewmaker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Frank Shewmaker enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Butch Larson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Frank Shewmaker!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Aleksandr Martynov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Larson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Shewmaker sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Larson somewhat.

Larson attempts a counter takedown but Shewmaker avoids it well and moves away.
Larson tries for a takedown but Shewmaker sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Larson takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Shewmaker fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Larson, pushing him back against the cage.

Larson throws an elbow but Shewmaker slips to the side and avoids it well.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Shewmaker is looking for a sweep.
Larson is staying tight to Shewmaker's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Larson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Shewmaker for as long as he can get away with.
Shewmaker is trying to control Larson's posture but Larson avoids it.
Larson postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Shewmaker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Larson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Larson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Larson has control of Shewmaker's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Shewmaker regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Shewmaker tries to close the distance and clinch up but Larson swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Larson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Shewmaker sprawls well initially but Larson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Larson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Shewmaker can do to turn this around?

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Shewmaker moves into the clinch.

Shewmaker swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Larson blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Larson fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Shewmaker is working Larson over against the cage.
Shewmaker lands a right hand that snaps the head of Larson backwards.
Shewmaker tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Larson's elbow.
Shewmaker throws a knee to the head but misses.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Larson here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Shewmaker enables Larson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Shewmaker manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Shewmaker looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Larson has picked Shewmaker up and slammed him! Shewmaker can't keep hold of the triangle and Larson manages to pass to side control!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Larson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
