Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Max Avery! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ryan Bennett! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight moves into the clinch position. Avery really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Avery escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Avery connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Bennett closes the distance and pushes Avery back into the cage. Bennett lands a shoulder strike. Bennett missing with knees to the body.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bennett swings wildly with an uppercut but Avery uses good head movement to avoid it. Avery breaks the clinch.
Avery fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bennett manages to avoid it. And Bennett tries to counter it with a takedown but Avery pushes his down on his head and steps out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Avery throws a head kick but Bennett moves out of range.
Bennett clinches up with Avery and pushes him back against the cage. Avery manages to break the clinch.

Avery throws a combination that misses and Bennett counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Avery! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Avery tries to buck Bennett off but Bennett is having none of it. Bennett fails to land a wild elbow strike.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Avery struggling a bit here. The strikes coming from Bennett are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Bennett lands a nice forearm strike. This has been an exciting period of action! Avery struggling a bit here. Bennett throws an elbow but Avery slips to the side and avoids it well. Avery trying to remain calm as Bennett controls from the top position. Avery is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bennett in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Avery is looking for a sweep. Check out the look on Bennett's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Bennett throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Avery works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Avery is looking to get back to full guard here but Bennett has managed to pass to side control instead. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Avery is looking to regain half guard here but Bennett keeps moving and retains side control. Bennett decides to take the fight back to the feet. Bennett forces Avery back against the cage and clinches. Avery breaks from the clinch.

Avery fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Bennett looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ryan Bennett dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Bennett tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Avery manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Bennett tries to clinch but fails miserably and Avery counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Bennett has taken the fight to the clinch.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Avery. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Avery!
Bennett closes the distance but Avery moves to the side and Avery counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Bennett rushes Avery and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Avery tries to score a body lock takedown but Bennett shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Bennett tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Avery avoids it.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Nice defenses there by Bennett. Bennett tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Max Avery is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Avery with a lazy takedown attempt and Bennett counters with a two punch combo. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Max Avery. That's going to take a lot out of him. Avery just misses with a punch to the body.
Avery throws a head kick that misses. Bennett throws a counter combo. Avery will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Bennett has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Avery is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Bennett throws a knee to the head but misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Avery looking to slow down the pace here. Bennett can't find room to land a body shot as Avery controls the action.

That was a close second round but I would say that Max Avery will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
The fight stays on the outside here - Bennett looks like he's thinking about clinching though. A combination from Bennett does no damage. Avery lands a really nice looking cross but Bennett seems unphased.
Bennett moves into the clinch. Avery pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Bennett throws a nice looking combination but Avery bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Bennett tries to close the distance and clinch up but Avery swats him away and circles back towards the center. Bennett clinches. Ryan Bennett seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. That's two minutes gone in the round. Avery breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Bennett takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Bennett tries to clinch but Avery moves out of range. The fight stays on the outside here - Bennett looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Avery tries to bum rush Bennett with a series of wild strikes but Bennett uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Bennett wants to clinch and Avery counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Avery bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Avery tries to keep at a distance but Bennett has taken the fight into the clinch. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Bennett's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee is keeping an eye on Bennett - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Avery's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Bennett pushes Avery up against the cage in a clinch. Bennett tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Avery tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Avery goes for a takedown in the clinch but Bennett prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Max Avery. That's going to take a lot out of him. Avery looking to stall.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Bennett just misses with a elbow thrown towards Avery's brow. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Avery breaks from the clinch.

And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Ryan Bennett. I think Bennett has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
