Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nick Swisher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Avery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Max Avery has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Nick Swisher's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nick Swisher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Max Avery!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, William Peck and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avery avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Avery closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Avery really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Swisher. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Swisher manages to work his way to half guard, despite Avery's best efforts.
Avery wants to free his trapped foot but Swisher is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Avery is working for a kimura but Swisher is defending it quite comfortably.
We've been hearing good reports from Swisher's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Swisher is trying to get back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Swisher really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Avery trying to control the pace.
Swisher trying to control from the bottom.
Avery working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Avery trying to mount his opponent but Swisher defends it.
Swisher is looking to improve his position.
Avery wants to take a breather but Swisher is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Avery looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Avery looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Swisher tries to roll over but Avery keeps him under control.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Swisher is pressing down on Avery's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Avery pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Swisher is keeping the position for now.
Avery trying to control the position from guard on top but Swisher is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Avery shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Swisher looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Swisher has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Avery can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Swisher is breathing heavily.
Avery trying to control but Swisher is working from the bottom.
Swisher has control of Avery's left arm, preventing Avery from doing any damage.
Avery slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Avery wants to control from the top but Swisher keeps moving.
Avery tries to free his leg and advance position but Swisher is retaining full guard.
Swisher is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Avery is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Avery is in close to Swisher's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Swisher is pulling down on Avery's head to control his posture.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Max Avery dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


A jab from Avery finds it's way through Swisher's defenses.
Swisher moves in looking to clinch but Avery pushes him off.
Avery pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Avery lands a head kick. Swisher smiles back at him and beckons him forward.


Swisher is rocked!

and Avery counters by clinching up.
Oh Swisher is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Avery breaks the clinch.
Avery lands with a right and another and another! Swisher is in big trouble! Avery lands again and this time it's lights out for Swisher! A quality knockout there for Avery.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Max Avery!
