Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joe Bone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Calvin King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bone comes to the cage accompanied by You'll Never Walk Alone. King has chosen ROAR by Katy Perry as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Bone!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Calvin King!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King jabs at Bone's body.
King looks to score with a jab to the body but Bone is just out of range.
King dodges the punch combination from Bone.

Bone fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. King sprawls well initially but Bone persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Bone passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for King!

Bone is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But King has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from King!

Bone working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because King has passed into half guard!

Bone is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but King pulls his head out easily.

Bone is looking for a sweep. King is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Bone is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of King's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take King's back!

King is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Bone off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Bone looking to break King's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. King remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Bone will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
King really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bone. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

King is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Bone went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Bone shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
King steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Bone.

King ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
King throws a body kick that misses.
Bone takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Bone lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but King circles away quickly and effectively.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from King! But no joy.
Bone swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
King looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bone takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Bone thows a left - swing and a miss!
King throws an overhand right that lands on Bone's shoulder, as Bone tries to avoid the shot.
Bone chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before King can pounce on him.
Bone throws the left hand but King avoids the punch easily.
Bone misses with a straight left.
Bone doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Joe Bone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

King cracks Bone with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

and King counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Bone wants to clinch.
King takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Bone throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

King moves in looking to clinch but Bone pushes him off.

King closes the distance and clinches.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Bone tries to score a body lock takedown but King shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
King throws a punch but it's blocked by Bone.
King has Bone pressed against the cage, preventing Bone from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

King misses with a hook to the ribs.
Bone wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Bone turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Bone manages to end up in side control.
King tries to bench press Bone off him but Bone keeps the position.
King felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Bone goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, King has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Bone but great work by King.

King has control of an arm but Bone manages to advance to King's back!

Bone is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. King defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Bone has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, King has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Bone is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. King defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Bone is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. King knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften King for a finish.

That was a close second round but I would say that Joe Bone will probably get the nod.

King ducks right into an uppercut from Bone.
King displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Bone throws out the jab.
Bone changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
King takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Bone has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from King finds it's way round the side to connect with Bone's head.
Bone tries for a takedown but King sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Bone has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by King.

Bone takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
King connects with a looping right hand.
Bone comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
King throws out a loose jab but Bone uses good head movement to avoid it.
Calvin King seems to be getting the better of the standup.
King wants to clinch up but Bone keeps it at a distance.
King bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Bone's head backwards.
Bone moves in looking to clinch but King pushes him off.

Bone feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Kings jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
King buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bone's hands are dropping dangerously low here and King connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Bone scrambles back to his feet.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from King! But no joy.

King misses with a body kick.
Bone misses with the combination.
Calvin King is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

King thows a left - swing and a miss!
King swings and misses with a hook to the body.
King ducks under a wild hook from Bone.

King tries a quick counter leg kick but Bone is wise to it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Bone is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

A close third round but Calvin King just about did enough to take it.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Bone chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before King can pounce on him.
King is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Bone.
King cracks Bone with a right hand to the side of the head.

King slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
King avoids the body shot from Bone.

King is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Bone rushes King and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
King lands a left hand that snaps the head of Bone backwards.
Bone is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

A frustrated look appears on Bone's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Bone has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by King after a bit of a struggle.
It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

King makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Bone on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by King. King obviously looking to wear him down.
King stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Bone takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Bone looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
King misses with a hook. Bone ducked under it nicely.
Bone lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
King looks to score with a jab to the body but Bone is just out of range.

King avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
King moves away from the strike by Bone.

King takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

King throws a lazy right hand but Bone sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Bone looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? King is fending him off so far but Bone persists. Nope, King circles away and we're back to standing.

Bone is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

King ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bone moves away.
King uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Bone.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - a gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bone tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but King wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Bone moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

King must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Bone had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. King defends it easily.

King got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bone has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, King has managed to get both his arms back between Bone's legs - danger averted.
Bone bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in King's guard.
