And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 6 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kantaro Hoshino!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, William Gold and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Helgi pushes Hoshino back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Hoshino wants to get back to striking at distance but Helgi won't allow it.

Hoshino breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hoshino moves forwards but Helgi connects with a nice, crisp jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Hoshino! But no joy.

A little jabbing left from Hoshino on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Hoshino throws a hook to the side of Helgi's head but Helgi sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Helgi throws a head kick but Hoshino moves out of range.
Helgi lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Hoshino at a distance.

Hoshino has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Helgi lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Helgi connects with a right hand. Hoshino shakes it off.
Helgi is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hoshino might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

and Hoshino makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
