Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Winston Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rocky Blyer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blyer has chosen Eye Of The Tiger as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Winston Hughes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 42 - 42 - 1, fighting out of New York, Rocky Blyer!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Colin Fotheringham and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blyer takes a swing at Hughes's ribcage but misses.
Blyer connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Hughes's hands.
A slow jab from Hughes misses its intended target.
Blyer looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Blyer swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Blyer keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Hughes showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Blyer.
Hughes takes a jab right on the kisser.
Rocky Blyer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Blyer checks a leg kick.
Blyer misses with a few strikes there.
Blyer thows a left - swing and a miss!
Blyer swings for the body but Hughes moves out of range.
Hughes appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Blyer has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Hughes is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Blyer takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.


It looks like Rocky Blyer has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Blyer throws a hook but Hughes avoids it easily.
Blyer misses with a few strikes there.
Blyer throws a body punch but Hughes moves out of range.
A little feinted left hand from Hughes on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
A shot to the body from Blyer misses
and Hughes counters with a nice body shot.
Hughes seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Blyer throws an off balance right hand
and Hughes counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Blyer throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Blyer throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hughes sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Hughes throws an off balance right hand
and Blyer counters with a stiff right hand.
Blyer misses with a body shot.
Hughes staying out of range there.
Blyer showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hughes.
Blyer throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Blyer comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Blyer gets cracked there but stands up to it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Blyer looks to land a left hand but Hughes moved out of range nicely.
Blyer throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Hughes counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Hughes lands a big head kick that sends Blyer tumbling to the mat! Hughes takes a step backwards and waves Blyer back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Blyer is rocked!
Blyer switches off momentarily and Hughes cracks him with a monster right hand! Blyer topples backwards and makes a semi conscious attempt to cover up, as Hughes dives in to land one more shot, before the referee has time to call the fight. What a finish by Hughes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Winston Hughes!
A less than humble Winston Hughes misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
