Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

18 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gunner State Jr.!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
State Jr. shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ruzic manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Ruzic kicks State Jr. off and gets to his feet.
Ruzic manages to get an easy takedown there - catching State Jr. on his heels. He'll look to pass State Jr.'s guard now, I'm sure.
State Jr. is looking for a triangle but Ruzic pushes his legs off easily.
Ruzic wants to stand but State Jr. has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Ruzic wants to control from the top but State Jr. keeps moving.
State Jr. had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ruzic defends it easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
State Jr. looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Ruzic passes into half guard.
Ruzic seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but State Jr. does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

State Jr. felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Ruzic enables State Jr. to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ruzic manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Ruzic has control of State Jr.'s left arm, preventing State Jr. from doing any damage.

State Jr. is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Ruzic is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Ruzic has escaped and now he's on top!

Ruzic seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down State Jr. for as long as he can get away with.

Ruzic got a little sloppy there for a moment and State Jr. has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ruzic has managed to get both his arms back between State Jr.'s legs - danger averted.

That was a close second round but I would say that Josip Ruzic will probably get the nod.

Ruzic seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
State Jr. shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ruzic as he avoids it easily.
Gunner State Jr. seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ruzic closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
State Jr. is staying active underneath Ruzic, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Ruzic is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because State Jr. is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
State Jr. rushes Ruzic and presses him up against the cage.
Ruzic is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that State Jr. can do to turn this around?
Ruzic pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ruzic feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
State Jr. wriggles free and stands up.

State Jr. goes for a double leg but Ruzic avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Ruzic continues to drive forward.
Josip Ruzic has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gunner State Jr..

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
State Jr. gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Ruzic is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Gunner State Jr. has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
State Jr. is not content to let Ruzic control the position.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ruzic, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
