Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
22 - 14 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Moneybags! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Petey Flowers! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Moneybags gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Moneybags lands with a left to the head. The referee is keeping an eye on Moneybags - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Moneybags creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Flowers's defenses.
It looks like Petey Flowers has been cut. Flowers jumps guard but Moneybags turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Moneybags breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Moneybags throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Moneybags cracks Flowers with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Moneybags scores with a jab. Flowers throws a combination that misses and Moneybags counters with a stiff right hand.
Flowers is rocked! Moneybags takes the fight into the clinch. Flowers is still on wobbly legs! Can Moneybags finish him? Flowers is trying to drag Moneybags to the mat but Moneybags just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Flowers blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Moneybags swings wildly with an uppercut but Flowers uses good head movement to avoid it. Flowers seems to have recovered his senses. Moneybags lands a right hand. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Moneybags gets through Flowers's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Moneybags breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Moneybags closes the distance and clinches. Moneybags pushes Flowers against the cage. Moneybags is working some dirty boxing. Moneybags pushes off with a quick right hook! Flowers goes down! Flowers tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Moneybags moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Moneybags! John Moneybags seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
