Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bob Wakosky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Endang Kurnia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bob Wakosky has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bob Wakosky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Endang Kurnia!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Sandra Marshall and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kurnia feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Kurnia postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Wakosky wants to stand but Kurnia is controlling the position.

Wakosky is looking for a triangle but Kurnia pushes his legs off easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kurnia drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Wakosky manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kurnia has Wakosky in his guard.


Kurnia has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Wakosky is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Kurnia.

Wakosky lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Kurnia down.

Kurnia takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Wakosky throws a right and a left that Kurnia avoids nicely.
Kurnia feints the counter takedown.
Wakosky tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kurnia manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Bob Wakosky seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kurnia.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kurnia can do anything to dispel that myth.

Wakosky seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Wakosky closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kurnia circles away.
Wakosky shoots in and drives through. Kurnia sprawls well.
Wakosky misses with a takedown attempt - Kurnia sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Wakosky will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Kurnia throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Wakosky tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kurnia is in Wakosky's guard.
Kurnia stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wakosky swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kurnia shoots in but Wakosky avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Wakosky misses with a body shot.
Wakosky misses with a few strikes there.
Kurnia tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wakosky sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kurnia somewhat.
Horrible takedown attempt by Wakosky or perhaps it was just good defense by Kurnia, which made it look bad.
Wakosky shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Kurnia eats them both and turns towards Wakosky to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Wakosky moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Wakosky scores with a sloppy right hand. Kurnia should have avoided that one.

Kurnia shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Wakosky has one foot on Kurnia's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kurnia misses with a head shot. Wakosky uses the momentum to regain guard.
Endang Kurnia has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Wakosky is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kurnia jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Wakosky walks away with a smile on his face. Kurnia gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Bob Wakosky is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Bob Wakosky showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Wakosky has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
