Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tel Britton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 15 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, James Raban! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A right-left combo lands from Raban. Raban will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Britton went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. We've been hearing reports that Britton has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Britton misses with a series of wild punches.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Raban has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Britton misses with a series of wild punches.
Raban throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Britton steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Raban. Some wild striking there from Britton.
Raban throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Britton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. The fight stays on the outside here - Raban looks like he's thinking about clinching though. The crowd cheers as Britton lands an impressive looking overhand right. Raban doesn't seem phased though.
It looks like James Raban has been cut. Britton will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Britton misses with the combination.

A slow jab from Raban misses its intended target. Raban clinches with his opponent.

Britton throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Britton throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Raban throwing strikes but missing. Britton wants to stand and escape but Raban is having none of it. Britton will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Britton keeping moving, preventing Raban from controlling successfully. Britton throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Britton looking for a guillotine here but Raban defends easily.
Raban wants to control from the top but Britton keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Raban is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Raban throwing strikes but missing. Raban postures up.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Raban trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Britton manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. Britton goes for a takedown attempt but Raban pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Britton lands a left and a right that sends Raban crashing to the canvas! Britton dives into mount looking to finish! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Raban keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Britton working Raban over with strikes here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Raban working to try and regain half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Britton throws some wild stikes that Raban manages to avoid easily.
Raban holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Britton tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Britton prevents Raban from getting the reversal. Britton with shots to the head and body - Raban looks very uncomfortable down there. Raban tries to reverse the position but Britton maintains control. Britton landing strikes from the mount and Raban is in trouble!
That has opened up James Raban's cut even more. Raban is squirming around, avoiding Britton's attempts to control the action. A nice elbow there by Britton.
The cut above James Raban's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at James Raban's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Tel Britton! Tel Britton bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
