PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Borys Mankowski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dancing Dave (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mankowski comes to the cage accompanied by Kękę -Wyjebane. Dave is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s76fTJKxUQc. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Borys Mankowski!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Dancing Dave!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Jeff Smith and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dave bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Mankowski's head.
A nice leg kick lands there from Dave.
Good standup being displayed there by Dave as he connects with a hook.
Dave throws a sloppy head kick and Mankowski moves out of range easily.
Dave connects with a body shot.

Mankowski shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Dave napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Mankowski is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Dave has escaped the position, nice work there.
Mankowski is putting a hurting on Dave here, landing some big shots from side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Dave dodges the ground and pound from Mankowski.
Mankowski remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Dave tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Dave dodges the ground and pound from Mankowski.
Mankowski fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Mankowski content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Mankowski has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Mankowski throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Dave was covering up waiting for the punch and Mankowski finishes the takedown easily into guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Borys Mankowski will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Dave throws a quick inside leg kick.
Mankowski blocks the body kick.
Mankowski shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dave but Dave pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Dave delivers a nice body kick.
Mankowski fails with a takedown attempt.
Dave lands with a nice body punch.
Dave throws a wild body kick that Mankowski sees coming a mile off.

Mankowski decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Dave makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Dave connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Dave has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Mankowski walks forward, straight into a front kick from Dave.
Mankowski has a takedown stuffed.

Dave looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Mankowski shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Dave manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Mankowski has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Borys Mankowski overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Mankowski is staying tight to Dave's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Mankowski grinds an elbow into Dave's temple.
Mankowski throws an elbow but Dave slips to the side and avoids it well.

Mankowski darts in looking for a takedown but Dave gets double underhooks and turns Mankowski into the cage.

Mankowski closes the distance and clinches up with Dave, looking for a takedown. Mankowski pushes Dave against the cage but Dave circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Mankowski bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Mankowski throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dancing Dave showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Dave buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Mankowski.

Dave sneaks out the side door and pushes Mankowski away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Dave throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Mankowski's head.
Mankowski fails with a takedown attempt.
A little jabbing left from Dave on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Dave will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Dave moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Dave gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Mankowski postures up.
Mankowski is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Mankowski stands up over Dave, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Mankowski.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Mankowski closes the distance and clinches up with Dave, looking for a takedown. Mankowski pushes Dave against the cage but Dave circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Dave turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Mankowski shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dave defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Borys Mankowski. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dave moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Mankowski goes for a double leg but Dave avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Dave continues to drive forward.

Dave fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Mankowski.
Dave throws a body punch but Mankowski moves out of range.
Dave tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Dave fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mankowski manages to avoid it.
Mankowski swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Borys Mankowski is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
