Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leo Sonnen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tetsuya Shiroo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sonnen kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Scream Aim Fire. Shiroo has chosen The Gazette / Filth In The Beauty as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Leo Sonnen has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Leo Sonnen seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leo Sonnen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tetsuya Shiroo! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Stewart Dunkirk and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sonnen throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Shiroo counters with a nice uppercut. Leo Sonnen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Shiroo lands the left hand. Sonnen rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Shiroo counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Shiroo ducks under a wild hook from Sonnen. Sonnen looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Sonnen sizes up Shiroo with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Sonnen misses with a hook
enabling Shiroo to counter with a crisp jab. Sonnen digs a good body shot into Shiroo's ribs. Shiroo swats away the attempt to clinch by Sonnen. Shiroo avoids the body shot from Sonnen.
A looping hook to the body misses from Sonnen. Shiroo does a little dance to reset his feet. Shiroo looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Shiroo keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Shiroo throws out a counter right but Sonnen avoids it with no problem. Shiroo swings and misses with a hook to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sonnen takes a swing at Shiroo's ribcage but misses. Shiroo just misses with a punch to the body.
Sonnen clinches up with Shiroo and pushes him back against the cage. Sonnen lands a shoulder strike.
It looks like Tetsuya Shiroo has been cut. Shiroo lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Sonnen misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Sonnen can't find room to land a body shot as Shiroo controls the action.
Sonnen blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Sonnen working hard to break the clinch. Shiroo effectively controlling the action here. Sonnen has Shiroo pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Sonnen pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Shiroo tumbling to the mat - Sonnen dives into Shiroo's guard. Sonnen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shiroo swivels though and keeps the full guard. Shiroo is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sonnen controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Sonnen trying to control the position from guard on top but Shiroo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Sonnen throws a big elbow that misses. Sonnen working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Shiroo controls Sonnen momentarily but Sonnen frees himself. Shiroo is looking for a triangle but Sonnen pushes his legs off easily.
Shiroo has an active guard here but Sonnen has managed to pass into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shiroo tries to roll over but Sonnen keeps him under control. Sonnen is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Sonnen working over Shiroo with some ground and pound. Shiroo looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Sonnen seems to be looking for submissions.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Sonnen looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Sonnen wants to control but Shiroo is keeping him busy. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sonnen looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shiroo is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Sonnen pulls his head out easily. Sonnen looks to land a strike but Shiroo avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Sonnen scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
That has opened up Tetsuya Shiroo's cut even more. Sonnen is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Shiroo pulls Sonnen in close to prevent any damage. Sonnen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shiroo swivels though and keeps the full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Leo Sonnen dominated that round. The cut man is working on Tetsuya Shiroo's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Sonnen scores with a nice right hand.
Sonnen throws an overhand right that lands on Shiroo's shoulder, as Shiroo tries to avoid the shot. Shiroo was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind. Sonnen moves out of range of the body kick. Shiroo tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Sonnen is able to avoid easily. Sonnen is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Shiroo can do to turn this around? Shiroo misses with a wild body shot. Tetsuya Shiroo seems to be getting the better of the standup. Shiroo moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Shiroo scores with the left hand. Sonnen knows he should have avoided that one. Shiroo tries a head kick but it misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sonnen takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Shiroo jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Shiroo drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
The cut above Tetsuya Shiroo's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Shiroo uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Sonnen. Shiroo follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sonnen decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Sonnen stalling. Shiroo wants to get back to full guard. Sonnen lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Tetsuya Shiroo's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Leo Sonnen! A victorious Leo Sonnen thanked his army of followers in his post fight interview, telling people to make sure they follow him on Twitter. In defeat, Tetsuya Shiroo stepped up to the mic, saying 'I was prepared to die in this cage tonight. The opponent was the better man today but I will be back stronger.'.
