Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Norman Davenport! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sterling Nixon! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nixon throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Davenport tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Nixon is in Davenport's guard. Nixon is in close to Davenport's body, working some short punches and elbows.
It looks like Norman Davenport has been cut. Nixon wants to pass the guard but Davenport is keeping the position. Davenport manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nixon manages to get himself to full guard.
Davenport might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Nixon working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Davenport. Davenport throws a big elbow that misses. Davenport really is a fat lump. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Davenport missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Nixon punching from the bottom - just letting Davenport know he's still in a fight. Nixon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Davenport. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Nixon striking from his own guard. Nixon has an active guard here but Davenport has managed to pass into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nixon misses with some strikes from the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nixon can do anything to dispel that myth. Davenport is thwarting Nixon's attempts to control the position. Davenport passes into side control, despite Nixon's attempt to control the position.
Nixon looks to move to half guard but instead Davenport has passed into mount! Damn! Davenport has hold of Nixon's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Nixon manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Nixon is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Nixon throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Nixon wants to control but Davenport is having none of it. Nixon is trying desperately to improve position. Nixon flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nixon keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

We've been informed that Nixon has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Davenport misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Nixon tries to get back to half guard but can't. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Davenport lands a couple of good shots and Nixon has given up his back, trying to escape the position! Nixon is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nixon trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. Davenport struggling to land strikes to the head as Nixon covers up. Davenport not allowing Nixon to control his hands. Nixon tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Nixon really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Davenport looking to finish with strikes here!

Norman Davenport dominated that round. The cut man is working on Norman Davenport's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Nixon clinches up with Davenport and pushes him back against the cage. Nixon turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Nixon manages to end up in side control. Davenport can't do much from the bottom here. Davenport gets back to half guard. Nixon with the ground and pound but Davenport uses the opportunity to regain guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Davenport is trying to keep Nixon in close.
Nixon cracks Davenport with a solid left hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Nixon's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Davenport avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Davenport is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Nixon postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Davenport covers up, he's hurt! Nixon keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Nixon and the ref steps in to end the fight! Nixon can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sterling Nixon! After the fight, Sterling Nixon was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
