Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jeremy Sullivan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chuck Silva!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Sullivan.
Sullivan throws a hook but Silva blocks it.
Silva is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Silva tries to move into range but Sullivan moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sullivan won't allow Silva to get back to his feet.

Sullivan is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Silva manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sullivan manages to get himself to full guard.

Silva is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Sullivan has his foot on Silva's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Silva works his way back into a safe position though.

Silva decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Silva has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Jeremy Sullivan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

It looks like Chuck Silva has been cut.

Sullivan clinches with his opponent.
Sullivan gets through Silva's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Sullivan misses with a punch on the inside.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Silva is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Sullivan gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Sullivan has a couple of punches blocked by Silva.

Silva creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Silva goes for a takedown in the clinch but Sullivan prevents it.

Silva has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Sullivan avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Sullivan tightens his grip and picks Silva up, before dumping him to the ground. Silva manages to land in guard.

Silva scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Sullivan gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Silva creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Silva gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Sullivan regains guard.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Sullivan is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Silva is aware though and is defending well.

Sullivan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Silva gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Silva's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Sullivan is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Silva has his hands clasped together but Sullivan extends and breaks Silva's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Sullivan.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jeremy Sullivan!
Jeremy Sullivan seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
The defeated Chuck Silva had this to say: 'Will rise again'.
