The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Washington tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hale swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Washington decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hale's guard.
Washington wants to control from the top but Hale keeps moving.

Washington drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hale dives on top into guard.

Washington working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hale doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hale manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Washington isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Hale stacks Washington on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Hale!

Washington is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Hale has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Hale!

Washington had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Hale is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Washington Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Hale's back instead.

Cleophus Washington overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Washington is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hale doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Washington.

I would just about give that final round to Kelii Hale.
