Van Buren comes into the arena with Blue Monday blaring out of the sound system. Brian Mayhew has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Robin Van Buren's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robin Van Buren! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brian Mayhew! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Dean Styles and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mayhew lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Van Buren fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mayhew to the ground. Van Buren is now in Mayhew's guard. Van Buren is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. We've been hearing good reports from Van Buren's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Van Buren makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Van Buren drops back looking for a leg! Mayhew is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mayhew manages to kick Van Buren off! Van Buren jumps back into Mayhew's guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Van Buren is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Mayhew looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Van Buren has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Van Buren postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Van Buren controlling from the top position. Van Buren has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Van Buren keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Mayhew's head. Van Buren cracks Mayhew with a solid left hand. Van Buren is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Mayhew looks winded! Van Buren is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Van Buren drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Van Buren as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Mayhew screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Van Buren! Nice submission victory there!
