Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Samuel Vimes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Van Pol (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vimes on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Vimes misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Pol.

Pol has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Vimes is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Vimes pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Pol lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Pol ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Vimes moves away.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Vimes crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Pol - the referee stops the clock and Vimes gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Pol. Vimes manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Vimes lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Pol has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Pol and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Pol lands a big head kick that sends Vimes tumbling to the mat! Pol takes a step backwards and waves Vimes back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Vimes chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Pol can pounce on him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Pol slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Pol cracks Vimes with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Vimes looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Pol finish him?

He tries to recover but Pol pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Vimes is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
