Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tomas Ayers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kevin Steen!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ayers throws a series of punches but Steen avoids them all with ease.
Steen drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Ayers defends it well.

Steen has taken the fight to the clinch.
Steen prevents Ayers from breaking the clinch.
Ayers could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Ayers creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Ayers throws a punch but it's blocked by Steen.
Steen lands a nice shot to the body.

Steen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Steen closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Ayers's guard.
Steen showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Let's hope that Steen has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Steen working some strikes from top position.
Steen tries to free his leg and advance position but Ayers is retaining full guard.
Ayers tries to strike from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Steen lands a couple of decent looking shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Steen is working Ayers over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.


It looks like Tomas Ayers has been cut.
Ayers might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Steen preventing the sweep.
Ayers trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Ayers being controlled here, momentarily.
Steen postures up and lands a big shot to Ayers's brow.

Steen avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Steen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Steen slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Steen.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Steen closes the distance and clinches.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Steen gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Steen is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Steen is looking to stand up but Ayers won't let him.
Steen is pushing down on Ayers's leg trying to pass to half guard. Ayers is fighting to maintain full guard but Steen has managed to sneak the leg through.
Well, if Steen is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Steen wants to free his trapped foot but Ayers is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Steen passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Ayers!
Steen scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Ayers?
Ayers tries to lock up and control but Steen gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Ayers keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Steen sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Steen lands with some strikes.
Steen postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Ayers badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Steen around the waist but Steen pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Steen is the winner by TKO! Steen jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kevin Steen!
