PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Hewitt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hale Storm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hale Storm will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Brandon Hewitt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Hale Storm!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Daniel Bishop and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Storm throws a leg kick

and Hewitt counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Storm tries to kick Hewitt off in order to stand up. Hewitt Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Hewitt working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Hewitt tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Storm is looking to get back to his feet here but Hewitt is keeping cool and he's managed to take Storm's back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Storm has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Hewitt.

Storm manages to escape to his feet.

Hewitt rushes Storm and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Hewitt is stalling here.
Storm is trying to break free.
Hewitt effectively controlling the action here.

Hewitt pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Hewitt changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Storm looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Hewitt decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Storm displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.


It looks like Brandon Hewitt has been cut.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Storm falls off balance throwing a combination

and Hewitt counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Storm is looking to stand back up but Hewitt counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Storm.
Hewitt could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Storm wants to get back to his feet.
Storm keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Hewitt is looking for a kimura here.
Storm pushes Hewitt off looking to stand but Hewitt dives back in and keeps control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hewitt seems to be working for a kimura but Storm defends the submission attempt.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Storm avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hewitt.

Hewitt shoots in for a double leg but Storm sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Storm.
Hewitt takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Storm scores with a jab. Hewitt acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

and Hewitt holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Hewitt escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hewitt looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Storm is fending him off so far but Hewitt persists. Nope, Storm circles away and we're back to standing.
Storm feints a jab promting Hewitt to slip. Storm then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Hewitt slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Hewitt darts in and clinches Storm up against the cage.

Hewitt breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Storm bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

Hewitt clinches up with Storm and pushes him back against the cage.
Storm is trying to break free.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Storm wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Hewitt has him pressed against the cage.
Storm wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Storm is looking to break free of the clinch but Hewitt has double underhooks.
Storm tries a knee to the head but Hewitt blocks it.

Hewitt breaks the clinch.
Hewitt chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Storm can pounce on him.
Storm misses with a combination

so Hewitt counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Storm preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Hewitt drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Storm dives on top into guard.

Storm would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Brandon Hewitt overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Storm is breathing heavily.

Hewitt looking for subs off his back but Storm has passed one foot through into half guard.

Hewitt is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Storm pulls his head out easily.
Hewitt tries to roll over but Storm keeps him under control.

Hewitt makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hewitt.
Storm in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Hewitt is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Hewitt looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Storm wants to stand but Hewitt is controlling his posture from full guard.
Storm throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hewitt works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Storm postures up.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Storm throws a head kick but Hewitt moves out of range.
Storm misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hewitt.
Hewitt is looking to counter with a body kick.
Storm misses with a double jab

and Hewitt counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hewitt misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Storm.
Storm looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hale Storm showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Hale Storm seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Storm throws a leg kick which misses Hewitt's front leg but catches the back leg as Hewitt tries to avoid it.
Storm throws a series of strikes that have Hewitt backpedaling.

and Hewitt moves into the clinch.
Hewitt blocks a body shot from Storm.
Storm tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Hewitt avoids it.

Hewitt's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hewitt throws a body punch but Storm moves out of range.
Storm shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hewitt but Hewitt pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Storm takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

and Hewitt counters by moving into the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hewitt will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Storm up against the cage.
Storm is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Hewitt breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Storm tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hewitt lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Hewitt landing strikes from the mount and Storm is in trouble!
Hewitt pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Storm is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Hewitt locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Storm is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Brandon Hewitt!
