Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Josh Faber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Crap McGee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Crap McGee told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Josh Faber!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Crap McGee!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Alyssa Summers and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McGee shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Faber moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
McGee wants to pass the guard but Faber is keeping the position.
Faber seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Faber bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McGee's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Faber is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Faber cracks McGee with a solid left hand.
McGee keeping moving, preventing Faber from controlling successfully.
McGee looking to hit a scissor sweep but Faber is one step ahead there.
Faber has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Faber wants to stand but McGee is controlling his posture from full guard.

McGee had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Faber defends it easily.

Faber drops back looking for a leg! McGee is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and McGee manages to kick Faber off! Faber jumps back into McGee's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

McGee is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Faber advances position into side control!
McGee is looking to regain half guard here but Faber keeps moving and retains side control.

Faber decides to take the fight back to the feet.

McGee shoots in and gets a takedown into Faber's guard.

Faber looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
McGee pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Faber is keeping the position for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Faber pulls McGee in close to prevent any damage.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McGee accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
McGee trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
McGee wants to control from the top but Faber keeps moving.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Faber uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before McGee has time to react.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Faber's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Faber wants to clinch.

Faber closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. McGee quickly recovers to half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Faber lands a nice short elbow.
McGee wants to control but Faber is keeping busy and won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Faber is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Faber wants to stand up but McGee has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Faber scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
McGee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Faber. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
McGee moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
McGee looking for a sweep. Not yet McGee, not yet.
Faber trying to stand up but can't free himself from McGee's guard.

McGee looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Faber trying to control the position from guard on top but McGee is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Faber is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because McGee is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
McGee tries to land a sweep but no joy.
McGee is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Josh Faber overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Faber stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McGee swivels though and keeps the full guard.

McGee has momentary wrist control but Faber slips an elbow through the middle.
Faber is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that McGee can do to turn this around?

Faber is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Faber gets a takedown into half guard.
Faber drops an elbow to the side of McGee's head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Faber slips a nice elbow through McGee's hands, connecting with McGee's forehead.

Faber is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, McGee has managed to free his arm - good work.
Faber trying to control the action but McGee is working from the bottom.
McGee wants to improve his position but Faber is controlling well.
McGee taking some punishment here, with Faber in his half guard.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Faber tries to clinch up but McGee circles away and keeps his distance.

McGee takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
The fight stays on the outside here - Faber looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
McGee tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

McGee gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
McGee looking to hit a scissor sweep but Faber is one step ahead there.

McGee is trying to keep Faber in close.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McGee can do anything to dispel that myth.

McGee is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Faber is aware though and is defending well.
McGee trying to control the position.

McGee working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Faber doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Faber manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Faber seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

McGee has momentary wrist control but Faber slips an elbow through the middle.

McGee has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Faber can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Faber distracts McGee with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Faber tries to stand but McGee is controlling from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Faber wants to stand but McGee has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

McGee feints and as Faber raises his hands in defense, McGee changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Josh Faber is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Faber holds on and takes a little breather.
McGee trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Well Faber has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
