PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ian Lang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Red Coffee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 1, fighting out of London, Ian Lang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Red Coffee!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Paul Tew and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coffee misses with a head kick.
Lang tries to counter by clinching up but Coffee breaks away and moves out of range.
Coffee shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lang sprawls well. Lang wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Coffee gets slowly back to his feet.
Coffee throws a head kick that misses.

Coffee moves into the clinch.
Coffee drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Lang gets the underhooks and prevents it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lang has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Coffee avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Lang blocks a body shot from Coffee.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Coffee changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Lang fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Ian Lang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Red Coffee.

Coffee shoots in and bounces Lang off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Lang working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Coffee doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Coffee manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Coffee in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Coffee scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Lang throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Coffee forces his way into half guard.
Lang really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Coffee lands strikes from half guard.
Lang tries to get to full guard but Coffee has control of the leg.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lang is trying to stand.
Lang is looking to improve his position.

Coffee is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Lang wants to improve his position but Coffee is controlling well.
Coffee throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Lang to regain full guard.
Coffee wants to stand but Lang has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Lang will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Lang keeping moving, preventing Coffee from controlling successfully.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Lang has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Coffee can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Coffee wants to control from the top but Lang keeps moving.

Lang is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Lang throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Red Coffee dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Coffee drives through and clinches with Lang against the cage.
Lang slowing the pace effectively.
Coffee throws an elbow that misses.
Lang wants a takedown.
Coffee scores with a shot to the side of Lang's head.
Coffee is trying to drag Lang to the mat but Lang just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Lang tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Coffee's elbow.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Coffee has had enough of the clinch but Lang keeps him there for the moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Coffee escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Coffee closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Lang did well to prevent Coffee getting side control.
Coffee perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Lang tries to roll over but Coffee keeps him under control.
Coffee takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Lang gets full guard.
Coffee has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Lang will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Coffee avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Coffee is in close to Lang's body, working some short punches and elbows.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lang looking to hit a scissor sweep but Coffee is one step ahead there.
Coffee wants to stand but Lang has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Coffee trying to control the position from guard on top but Lang is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Lang throws his legs up looking for a submission but Coffee uses it to pass to side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Coffee trying to control the action but Lang is working from the bottom.

Coffee tries for a kimura but Lang is defending well.
Coffee advances to full mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lang tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Lang throwing hammer fists to the chest of Coffee. What's that going to do exactly?
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Coffee cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Lang really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Coffee manages to capitalize on a mistake by Lang to take his back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Red Coffee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Lang clinches with his opponent.

Coffee drags the fight down to the ground.

Lang stands up from Coffee's guard - Lang perhaps looking for a knockout.
Coffee doesn't manage to clinch there - Lang circles away.
Lang swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Coffee looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Coffee fails to land the takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Coffee misses with a hook to the body

and Lang counters by clinching up.
Coffee tries to pull guard but Lang holds him up against the cage and eventually Coffee drops back down to his feet.

Lang blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Coffee breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Lang circles away from the clinch attempt
and Lang counters with a stiff right hand.
Lang throws a series of punches but Coffee moves out of range.

Coffee closes the distance and pushes Lang back into the cage.
Coffee has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Coffee tries to pull guard but Lang won't allow it.
Coffee works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Coffee fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Lang missing with knees to the body.

Coffee's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Coffee dives in and grabs Lang's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lang pushes down on Coffee's head and hops out.
Coffee takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Coffee throws a chopping leg kick but Lang manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Coffee shoots in and bounces Lang off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lang pushes a forearm under Coffee's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Coffee is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ian Lang!
