The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Artist drives through with a takedown into Frank's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Artist trying to control but Frank is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Artist thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Frank can do anything to dispel that myth.
Frank has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Artist advances position into side control!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Artist is working to tighten his grip on Frank's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Frank has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Artist is really squeezing tight and eventually Frank passes out! Artist breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). The Artist!
A relieved looking The Artist thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
