Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Adam Shimit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacob Blanchard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Adam Shimit! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jacob Blanchard! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shimit clinches up against the cage. Shimit lands a body punch in the clinch. Shimit keeps control of Blanchard as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Blanchard lands a hook to the side of the head. Shimit breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Shimit lands a nice hook to Blanchard's body. Blanchard takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Blanchard shoots in but Shimit avoids the takedown attempt easily. Blanchard shoots in looking for a takedown but Shimit manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Blanchard's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Blanchard avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Blanchard drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Shimit defends it well. Shimit tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Blanchard was well out of range. Poor timing from Shimit. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shimit looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Blanchard is fending him off so far but Shimit persists. Nope, Blanchard circles away and we're back to standing. Shimit gets a double leg takedown into Blanchard's guard. Shimit controls from within his opponent's guard. Shimit trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Shimit trying to control the position from guard on top but Blanchard is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Blanchard scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Blanchard decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Shimit is staying active underneath Blanchard, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Blanchard throws a strike but Shimit avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Shimit is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Blanchard is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Shimit trying to mount his opponent but Blanchard defends it. Nice strikes from Shimit there. Blanchard manages to get to full guard.
Blanchard really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shimit. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Blanchard keeping moving, preventing Shimit from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Blanchard is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Blanchard is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Shimit is controlling him. Blanchard trying to control the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Blanchard looking to hit a scissor sweep but Shimit is one step ahead there. Shimit cracks Blanchard with a solid left hand. Blanchard working for a triangle but Shimit defends it easily.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Adam Shimit dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Blanchard shoots in and gets a takedown into Shimit's guard. Shimit wriggles free and stands up. Blanchard walks forward, straight into a front kick from Shimit. Blanchard fails in his attempt to clinch. Blanchard shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Blanchard showed some decent athleticism there. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Shimit moves into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shimit looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shimit is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Shimit keeping moving, preventing Blanchard from controlling successfully. Blanchard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shimit swivels though and keeps the full guard. That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Blanchard lying in Shimit's guard like a wet fish here, stalling away. Shimit decides he's had enough of all that nonsense - he escapes his hips and locks up an armbar! Wow, that was slick! Blanchard taps! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
