Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Beach Bum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Yakovlev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yakovlev has chosen Maroon 5 - Sugar as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alexander Yakovlev!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Paul Gruel and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bum throws an ugly left hook that misses
enabling Yakovlev to counter with a crisp jab.
Yakovlev dodges the punch combination from Bum.
Yakovlev slips under a jab from Bum.
A big left from Bum misses.
Bum fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Yakovlev manages to avoid it.
Bum avoids the head kick by Yakovlev.
Bum pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Yakovlev back to the cage. Bum follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Bum uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Yakovlev.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Yakovlev has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Bum lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Yakovlev backs up against the cage.

and Yakovlev counters with a one-two to the body.

Bum tries to score a power double leg takedown but Yakovlev sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bum somewhat.
Bum looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Bum tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Yakovlev was well out of range. Poor timing from Bum.
Yakovlev is working the combinations to good effect here.

Yakovlev slaps away a takedown attempt from Bum, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Beach Bum. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Yakovlev connects with a vicious head kick that knocks Bum to the floor! Yakovlev dives in looking for the finish!

Bum on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Yakovlev counters with a big right hand! Oh Bum is in trouble here! Yakovlev follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
