Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sandayu Momochi ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Harry Cederqvist! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Bruno Lombardi and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Momochi misses with a hook
and Cederqvist counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Momochi misses with a takedown and Cederqvist counters with a stiff right hand. Momochi avoids a kick to the body.
Cederqvist tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Momochi shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cederqvist but Cederqvist pushes him off and we're back to square one. Cederqvist tries to land a front kick but Momochi steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Cederqvist misses with a jab, cross combination.
Momochi shoots in but doesn't get the takedown letting Cederqvist counter with a right hand. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sandayu Momochi . That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Momochi looks for a takedown but Cederqvist sprawls well. Momochi doesn't succeed with the takedown and Cederqvist counters with a lovely straight right hand!
That's one minute gone in the round. Momochi avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Momochi gets the takedown into side control. Cederqvist tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Cederqvist really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Momochi . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Cederqvist wants to control but Momochi is having none of it. We've been hearing good reports from Momochi 's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Momochi unloading with bombs! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cederqvist blocking the ground and pound. This has been an exciting period of action! Poor strikes thrown by Momochi there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Cederqvist tries to reverse the position but Momochi maintains control. Momochi has control of Cederqvist's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Cederqvist regains control of the situation pretty easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Momochi has hold of Cederqvist's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Cederqvist manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Momochi lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Momochi can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Cederqvist is looking to escape. Momochi is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Cederqvist to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Cederqvist shrugs it off. Momochi controlling the pace for now. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Momochi working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Cederqvist looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Momochi ! Submission of the night perhaps?
