Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Renato Laranja! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hwai Ja! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick misses from Ja. Ja just misses with a punch to the body.
Ja thuds his shin into the meat of Laranja's side. Ja tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Laranja avoids the head kick by Ja.
Ja has Laranja up against the ropes in a clinch.
Ja digs a right hand underneath Laranja's ribcage. Laranja let out a lung full of air as it connected. Ja tries to land a knee to the head but Laranja blocks with his arms.
Ja scores with a nice hook to the head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ja tries a body shot but Laranja blocks it.

That's one minute gone in the round. Laranja throws a punch but it's blocked by Ja. Ja tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Ja has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Laranja seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Ja can turn it around. A quick uppercut on the inside from Ja. Laranja's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Ja pressing his opponent against the ropes. Ja landing knees to the head.
Laranja is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Ja is defending well. Laranja takes a shot to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ja lands with a left to the head. A battle for position here, against the ropes. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Ja. Laranja is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the ropes enables Ja to keep the fight standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Renato Laranja. That's going to take a lot out of him. A right hand to the body from Ja.
Ja lands a nice shot to the body. Laranja is breathing heavily. Ja connects with a nasty looking knee right to Laranja's face.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ja is looking to land a big knee to finish this one. He's got control of the head and as Laranja tries to break Ja's hands from around his neck, Ja unloads with that fight ending knee, right up the middle! Oh man, that was nasty! Laranja will need to get back to the training room and learn how to defend against the thai clinch! Oooh, his nose is a mess. Hopefully it's not broken.
