Al Ahwei is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Whirling Madness. Evgeni Elkemenchi is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Farouk Al Ahwei!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Elkemenchi connects with a high kick.

Elkemenchi has picked Al Ahwei up - he's going for a ride! Elkemenchi dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Elkemenchi thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Al Ahwei's head.
We've been hearing that Elkemenchi has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Elkemenchi winds up and cracks Al Ahwei with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Elkemenchi is trying to control. Al Ahwei wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Elkemenchi looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Al Ahwei with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Al Ahwei is refusing to be controlled, as Elkemenchi sits in half guard.
Al Ahwei is looking to control Elkemenchi's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Al Ahwei avoid being mounted?

Elkemenchi is nestled in close to Al Ahwei, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Al Ahwei felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Al Ahwei escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Elkemenchi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Evgeni Elkemenchi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Elkemenchi on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Al Ahwei. Al Ahwei obviously looking to wear him down.

Elkemenchi closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Al Ahwei to the mat! Al Ahwei manages to get full guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Al Ahwei is looking for a triangle but Elkemenchi pushes his legs off easily.

Al Ahwei ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Elkemenchi is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Al Ahwei can do to turn this around?

and Al Ahwei counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.


It looks like Evgeni Elkemenchi has been cut.

Al Ahwei is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Evgeni Elkemenchi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Elkemenchi got a little sloppy there for a moment and Al Ahwei has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Elkemenchi has managed to get both his arms back between Al Ahwei's legs - danger averted.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Al Ahwei in particular looking to stall.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

I think Al Ahwei has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Farouk Al Ahwei decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
