Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Theo Rains (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rory Shachner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rory Shachner! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Luis Engracia and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rains gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Rains misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Shachner.

Shachner tries to move to mount but Rains blocks the move with his legs. Rains is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Shachner is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rains knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shachner looks gassed! Rains manages to work his way to half guard, despite Shachner's best efforts. Shachner is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Shachner moves into full mount! Rains won't be happy about that! Shachner fails to move to back control. Shachner should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Rains tries to hold on but Shachner postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shachner moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Rains has worked his arm free - good work by Rains!
Rains is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Shachner off and has taken his back! Shachner turns into Rains and is now in his guard.

Shachner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rains swivels though and keeps the full guard. Rains had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Shachner is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Rains Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Shachner's back instead. Shachner is keeping busy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Rains fails with an attempt to clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Rains fails to land the takedown. Rains tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Shachner drives through with a takedown into guard. Shachner postures up.
Rains is pulling down on Shachner's head. It's preventing any offense from Shachner, at least for the moment. Shachner advances to half guard. Shachner is looking for a kimura here.

The fight stays on the outside here - Rains looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Shachner feints and as Rains raises his hands in defense, Shachner changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Rains not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Rains wants to sweep here but Shachner controlling him for the moment. Rains controls Shachner momentarily but Shachner frees himself. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rains will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Shachner keeping full guard, as Rains tries to pass. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Shachner lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Rains! Shachner is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Shachner!
