Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Akira Hayabusa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hayabusa comes into the arena with Paris blaring out of the sound system. Akira Hayabusa could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Steve Cox's chin.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 1, fighting out of London, Steve Cox!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Daniel Blasius and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
A slow jab from Hayabusa misses its intended target.

Hayabusa swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Cox stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hayabusa swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hayabusa wants to sweep here but Cox controlling him for the moment.

Hayabusa is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Cox throws an elbow that misses. Hayabusa uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Cox's guard. Nice move by Hayabusa!


Hayabusa is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Cox is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Cox has escaped and now he's on top!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Cox is refusing to be controlled, as Hayabusa sits in half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hayabusa is pressing down on Cox's thigh, looking to free his foot. Cox is holding on for now.
Hayabusa seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cox does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Steve Cox showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hayabusa dives in and grabs Cox's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cox pushes down on Hayabusa's head and hops out.

Cox tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hayabusa swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Hayabusa ties up his opponent against the ropes and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hayabusa no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hayabusa holds on and takes a little breather.

Cox might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hayabusa haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Steve Cox is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Akira Hayabusa.
Well Cox has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
