The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Patrick Alders and Paul Aken.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Greene wants to clinch up but Vanderdoes keeps it at a distance.

Vanderdoes changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Greene looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Vanderdoes is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Greene knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Greene is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Vanderdoes trying to control the action but Greene is working from the bottom.
Greene moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Vanderdoes postures up in Greene's guard and throws a big left but Greene blocks it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Vanderdoes drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Greene dives on top into guard.

Greene postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Greene avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Vanderdoes escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Greene gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Greene not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Greene got a little sloppy there for a moment and Vanderdoes has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Greene has managed to get both his arms back between Vanderdoes's legs - danger averted.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Greene is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Vanderdoes is controlling him well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Greene is looking to take a break and control but Vanderdoes is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Vanderdoes shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Greene napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Greene sneaks out the side door and pushes Vanderdoes away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Vanderdoes tries to clinch but Greene is having none of it.

Greene clinches up with Vanderdoes and pushes him back against the cage.
Vanderdoes gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Greene.
Greene tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Greene wants the takedown. Vanderdoes is fighting it off but Greene persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Vanderdoes's guard against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Vanderdoes has his foot on Greene's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Greene works his way back into a safe position though.

Vanderdoes turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Vanderdoes manages to end up in side control.
