PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andres Greer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Ford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, John Ford!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Glass and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Greer doesn't manage to clinch there - Ford circles away.
Greer could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Ford throws a push kick but Greer slaps the foot to one side.
Greer avoids the head kick by Ford.
Ford swings widly with a right hand
and Greer counters with a right hand to the body.
Donk. Ford catches Greer right on the button with a cross.


It looks like Andres Greer has been cut.

Greer looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Ford looking for submissions off his back.
Ford wants to get back to his feet.

Ford looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Ford is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Greer asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Greer is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
I really don't envy Ford right now.

Ford is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Greer.
Greer keeps control of the position as Ford tries to break free.
Greer is trying to stick to Ford's back but Ford is turning into Greer. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Greer's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Ford.
Greer looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ford is one step ahead there.
Ford loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Greer might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Ford with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Greer is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Ford looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Greer is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Ford has managed to free his arm - good work.

Greer looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Greer walks into a stiff left hand from Ford.

Ford throws a head kick that misses
and Greer counters with a right hand to the body.
Greer walks straight into a right hand from Ford - that's dropped him! Ford jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Greer from any more punishment! Greer complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). John Ford!
