Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Curt Wooten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronald Schultz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ronald Schultz is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Curt Wooten! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ronald Schultz! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Colin Fray and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Schultz moves into range and clinches up with Wooten. Wooten prevents the takedown attempt.
Schultz breaks the clinch.
Wooten fails to land with a series of punches.
Wooten has taken the fight to the clinch.
Schultz tries to pull guard but Wooten holds him up against the ropes and eventually Schultz drops back down to his feet.
Schultz breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Wooten lands with a nice combination. Schultz backs away looking to recover. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wooten lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Wooten closes the distance and lands a one-two. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Schultz tries to keep at a distance but Wooten has taken the fight into the clinch. Wooten wants to get back to striking at distance but Schultz won't allow it.

Schultz has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Wooten avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Curt Wooten has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. Schultz tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Wooten paws at him with a jab and circles away. Wooten throws a big counter combination but Schultz scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. No joy there for Wooten, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Schultz shoots in for a double leg but Wooten sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Wooten stuffs the takedown attempt from Schultz. Schultz gets slowly back to his feet. Wooten is looking for a counter combo. Wooten looks to land a combination but Schultz avoids it well. Wooten clinches up with Schultz and pushes him back against the ropes. Schultz manages to break the clinch.

The fight moves into the clinch position. Wooten jumps guard but Schultz stands there with Wooten around his waist. Wooten gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Wooten trying to control the position from guard on top but Schultz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Wooten stops Schultz from standing up. Schultz has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Schultz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wooten doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wooten manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Schultz fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Wooten avoids it really well and circles away. Nice sprawl there from Wooten as Schultz shoots in. Schultz looks winded! Wooten tries to land a front kick but Schultz steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wooten throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Wooten connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Schultz's hands. Nice takedown defense from Wooten. No joy for Schultz on that attempt. It looked like Wooten was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Schultz fails with the takedown and Wooten counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Schultz thinking. Curt Wooten has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ronald Schultz. Schultz is breathing heavily.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Wooten gets a clinch. Wooten blocks a body shot from Schultz. That's two minutes gone in the round. Schultz keeping moving, preventing Wooten from controlling successfully. Schultz is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Wooten is aware though and is defending well. Schultz has control of Wooten's left arm, preventing Wooten from doing any damage. Schultz looking for a sweep. Not yet Schultz, not yet. Wooten postures up.
Schultz wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Wooten is now in half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wooten seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Schultz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Schultz trying to control here.
Schultz is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Schultz shoots for a takedown but Wooten saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Wooten dips to his left and cracks Schultz with an uppercut! The fight stays on the outside here - Wooten looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Schultz tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Wooten throws a series of punches but Schultz moves out of range. Schultz takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Wooten clinches up with Schultz and pushes him back against the ropes. Ronald Schultz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Curt Wooten is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Schultz pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
And that's the end of the fight! Curt Wooten showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Wooten, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
