Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Grigol Pandahammer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ravi Shankoli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pandahammer comes to the cage accompanied by Heart - Alone. Shankoli has chosen Ravi Shankar - Om Shiva as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ravi Shankoli!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Pandahammer. Shankoli does a little dance to reset his feet.
Shankoli lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Pandahammer misses with the body kick
enabling Shankoli to counter with a crisp jab.


It looks like Grigol Pandahammer has been cut.
Shankoli walks into a straight right hand from Pandahammer.
Pandahammer connects with a looping right hand.

and Shankoli counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Shankoli lands with a kick to the temple. Pandahammer shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Shankoli has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

and Shankoli counters with a good low kick that Pandahammer was not able to check.

Shankoli dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Pandahammer. That did some damage!

As Pandahammer backs off Shankoli throws a huge counter combo but Pandahammer manages to avoid it all.

Shankoli swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Shankoli slips under a jab from Pandahammer.

and Shankoli counters with a nice right hand that sends Pandahammer toppling to the canvas! Pandahammer scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Shankoli finish him?!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pandahammer lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Pandahammer misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Shankoli counters with a good, hard body kick but Pandahammer shrugs it off.
Pandahammer with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Shankoli feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Pandahammer sprawling to the canvas! Pandahammer rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Shankoli finish him?!

Oh Pandahammer is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Pandahammer throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Shankoli stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Pandahammer tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Pandahammer seems to have got his legs back now.

Pandahammer throws a hook but Shankoli blocks it.
Despite the aggression on Shankoli's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
A slow jab from Shankoli misses its intended target.
A slapping leg kick lands for Pandahammer.
Pandahammer lands with a shot to the body.

Shankoli feints a counter leg kick.
Pandahammer uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Pandahammer tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Shankoli is able to avoid easily.
Shankoli fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Pandahammer checks it well.

Pandahammer misses with a hook. Shankoli ducked under it nicely.
Shankoli steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Pandahammer scores with a hook to the body. Shankoli takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Pandahammer lands a head kick. Shankoli smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Shankoli slips under a jab.
Shankoli takes a kick to the side of the head.
Pandahammer looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Shankoli appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Shankoli chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Pandahammer can pounce on him.
Shankoli gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Pandahammer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Grigol Pandahammer will probably get the nod.

Pandahammer fires out a quick counter leg kick but Shankoli just manages to avoid it.

Shankoli swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Shankoli lands a big head kick that sends Pandahammer to the canvas! Shankoli follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ravi Shankoli! Ravi Shankoli retains his light heavyweight title!
Ravi Shankoli made sure to give a little speech post fight, saying 'His spirit was strong, but my intention was to crush him. Psychologically, as well as physically with my boxing. I knew that he would be a willing opponent, and he showed heart, but my soul wanted this more! I feel strongly against animal violence, but in this case taking the hammer to the panda wa'.
