PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Nick Curtis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and diet Pepper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nick Curtis had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 136.2lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. diet Pepper will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nick Curtis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, diet Pepper!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Curtis shoots in but no luck this time.
Curtis looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Pepper gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Curtis tries to pull guard but Pepper holds him up against the cage and eventually Curtis drops back down to his feet.
Pepper wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Pepper manages to break the clinch.
Pepper throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Curtis.

Pepper closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pepper lands in his opponent's guard.

Pepper gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Curtis jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pepper walks away with a smile on his face. Curtis gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Pepper must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Pepper is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Curtis isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Pepper stacks Curtis on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Pepper!

Curtis postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Pepper is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Curtis, into his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Nick Curtis.
Well Pepper has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
