Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vitor Wibowo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Abdul The Refugee! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Steve Montenegro and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The Refugee connects with an inside leg kick. Wibowo has a takedown stuffed. Nice body kick from The Refugee. Wibowo tries to sprawl but The Refugee drives through with a takedown into half guard. The Refugee wants to advance to full mount but Wibowo doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. The Refugee avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Wibowo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and The Refugee defends well. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wibowo is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. The Refugee wants to control from the top but Wibowo keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. The Refugee drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and The Refugee jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. The Refugee trying to control but Wibowo is working from the bottom. The Refugee lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Wibowo wants to sweep but no luck. Wibowo scrambles and gets back to his feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from The Refugee. Wibowo feinted with a counter takedown. The Refugee plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Wibowo has a takedown stuffed. Wibowo walks forward, straight into a front kick from The Refugee.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A telegraphed takedown attempt from The Refugee is defended easily by Wibowo. A solid body kick from The Refugee. The Refugee stuffs the takedown attempt from Wibowo. Wibowo gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vitor Wibowo. That's going to take a lot out of him. Wibowo is breathing heavily. The Refugee darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Wibowo is not content to let The Refugee control the position. The Refugee looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Wibowo with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. The Refugee slips a nice elbow through Wibowo's hands, connecting with Wibowo's forehead.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The Refugee scoring with strikes to the body and head. The Refugee wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wibowo keeps working. The Refugee is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The Refugee lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Wibowo is rocked! Nice strikes from The Refugee there. Oh Wibowo is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Wibowo taking some punishment here, with The Refugee in his half guard. The Refugee has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Wibowo has hold of The Refugee's hands but The Refugee slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. The Refugee seems to be working for a kimura but Wibowo defends the submission attempt. Wibowo on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Wibowo wants to get back to full guard. The Refugee is controlling the pace.
Wibowo seems to have got his legs back now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The Refugee is nestled in close to Wibowo, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. The Refugee is trying to control. Wibowo wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. The Refugee is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Wibowo doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time The Refugee. Wibowo is looking to improve his position.
The Refugee landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Abdul The Refugee dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Wibowo fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but The Refugee avoids it really well and circles away. Wibowo shoots in but no luck this time. Wibowo dives in for a single leg takedown but The Refugee sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vitor Wibowo. That's going to take a lot out of him. The Refugee looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Wibowo! The Refugee lands some shots froms side control.

He's almost out here... but no, The Refugee gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. The Refugee lands some shots froms side control. The Refugee is looking to take a break and control but Wibowo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Wibowo is positioning himself to get back to half guard. The Refugee trying to control the position but Wibowo is working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The Refugee landing a few strikes. You can see the frustration on Wibowo's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. The Refugee trying to control the position but Wibowo is working away. The Refugee is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Wibowo knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. The Refugee cracks Wibowo with an elbow. That is naaassty.

The Refugee landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. A big shot lands for The Refugee! That's hurt Wibowo! Will he recover? The Refugee fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
