Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roy Kannemeyer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Peter Hague! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hague tries to score with a low kick but Kannemeyer moves his leg out of the way. It looked like Kannemeyer was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Kannemeyer looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Kannemeyer takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Hague fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kannemeyer, pushing him back against the cage. Hague lands with a short head shot on the inside. Our sources have told us that Kannemeyer has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight. Kannemeyer has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Hague avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Kannemeyer has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hague is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Kannemeyer on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
A short right from Hague on the inside. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Hague misses with a knee to the head. Hague scores with a shot to the side of Kannemeyer's head. Hague lands with a short head shot on the inside. Hague lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Kannemeyer backwards. Kannemeyer is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Hague gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roy Kannemeyer. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hague is trying to break the clinch but Kannemeyer is controlling him. Hague lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hague lands with a light punch inside. Hague tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kannemeyer dodges an elbow strike from Hague.
Hague misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Kannemeyer.
Hague lands with a short head shot on the inside. Hague digs a right hand into Kannemeyer's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Kannemeyer's gas tank. Hague lands a right hand. Hague escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hague clinches. Hague scores with a nice hook to the head. Hague manages to break the clinch.
Hague fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Hague looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Hague throws a good cross that connects.
Kannemeyer is rocked! Hague moves into the clinch. Oh Kannemeyer is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Hague lands on the inside with an uppercut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A left hand lands to the body for Hague.

Kannemeyer seems to have got his legs back now. Hague looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Good body shot from Hague.

Kannemeyer takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Hague presses Kannemeyer against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hague wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Hague lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Hague is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Hague scores with an uppercut up the middle. Hague is working Kannemeyer over against the cage. Kannemeyer blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Hague is stalling here.

Kannemeyer avoids a wild elbow strike from Hague. Hague scores with an uppercut up the middle. Hague lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Kannemeyer backwards. Hague lands a nice shot to the body. A nice left hand lands by Hague.
Hague digs a right hand underneath Kannemeyer's ribcage. Kannemeyer let out a lung full of air as it connected. Hague pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hague moves into the clinch. Hague breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hague throws a combination. Kannemeyer tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Kannemeyer walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Hague connects with a single shot there. Hague throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Kannemeyer on the side of the head. Kannemeyer gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Hague gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Peter Hague! After the big win, Peter Hague made sure to do all the important stuff like thanking his sponsors Voodoo Nutrition and telling the interviewer how much he loves him.
