The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Apollo throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rogers was covering up waiting for the punch and Apollo finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Rogers being controlled here, momentarily.
Rogers trying to keep a closed guard but Apollo is proving a slippery customer.
Apollo wants to get up but he can't break Rogers's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rogers wants to improve his position but instead Apollo has moved into half guard.
Apollo wants to stand up but Rogers is controlling the position.

Apollo tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Rogers.
Apollo takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Apollo tries to stand and escape but Rogers is controlling the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Apollo shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Apollo was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Rogers is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Apollo tries to stand but Rogers is controlling his head.
Rogers knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Apollo on the ground.
Apollo in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Apollo tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Apollo looks up at the clock and then as Rogers takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Apollo smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Rogers has one of Apollo's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.
Apollo is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Rogers's shoulder. That is not cool.

Apollo is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Rogers will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Apollo has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Rogers is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Apollo yanks on the arm and Rogers is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Apollo.
