Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Du Yuesheng! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sajin Komamura! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight stays on the outside here - Komamura looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Komamura shoots in and gets a takedown into Yuesheng's guard. Komamura looking to control the position here, rather than advance. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Yuesheng wants to stand and escape but Komamura is having none of it. Komamura looking to pass the guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Yuesheng is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Yuesheng wants to stand but Komamura is controlling the position. Komamura wants to stand but Yuesheng has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Komamura postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Komamura content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Komamura engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Komamura lands a couple of elbows. Yuesheng controlling the position. Komamura missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Yuesheng manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Komamura manages to get himself to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Yuesheng controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Komamura is looking for a triangle but Yuesheng pushes his legs off easily.
Komamura has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Komamura wants to sweep but no luck. Yuesheng looking to sit in guard and control but Komamura gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Yuesheng utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Yuesheng on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Yuesheng tries to get out of the position. Yuesheng wants to sweep here but Komamura controlling him for the moment. We've been hearing good reports from Yuesheng's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Komamura trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Yuesheng not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Komamura loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Komamura is fighting to break Yuesheng's control of his arms but Yuesheng is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Komamura working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Komamura postures up.
Yuesheng knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Komamura on the ground. Komamura postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Komamura throws a big elbow that misses. Yuesheng keeping moving, preventing Komamura from controlling successfully. Komamura throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Komamura takes a shot to the body in his stride.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Komamura fails with the takedown. Komamura throws a body punch but Yuesheng moves out of range. Yuesheng was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Yuesheng forces Komamura back against the ropes and clinches. Yuesheng scores with a shoulder strike. Komamura has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Yuesheng avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Yuesheng effectively controlling the action here. Komamura pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Yuesheng checks a low kick from Komamura. Yuesheng is looking to counter punch. Yuesheng swings for the body but Komamura moves out of range.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Yuesheng misses with a wild body shot. Komamura takes one on the button. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Komamura shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Yuesheng but Yuesheng pushes him off and we're back to square one. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Du Yuesheng will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Komamura slips a jab from Yuesheng. Komamura shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Komamura fails to land the takedown. Yuesheng swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Komamura shoots and misses and Yuesheng cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Du Yuesheng has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sajin Komamura. Komamura shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Yuesheng pinned against the ropes. Yuesheng gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Komamura shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Yuesheng but Yuesheng pushes him off and we're back to square one. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Decent striking displayed by Yuesheng there. Yuesheng fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Komamura to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Komamura looks to clinch but Yuesheng throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Komamura taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Du Yuesheng! Du Yuesheng retains his light heavyweight title!
